about the yeshiva
Nestled in a quiet neighborhood of Providence’s lovely East Side stands the Yeshiva Gedolah of Providence/New England Rabbinical College. In 1984, the Yeshiva broke ground as one of the very first in the region. Today, Boruch HaShem, it serves as a major center for the dissemination of traditional Torah values to New England and beyond.
Under the leadership of Rabbi Eliezer Y. Gibber, Rosh Hayeshiva, and Rabbi Yosef Lipson, Mashgiach Ruchani, the Yeshiva endeavors to provide each of its Talmidim with the tools, environment and support to realize his potential as a Ben Torah and to encourage continuous striving in Avodas Hashem. By nurturing each Talmid as a unique individual in a warm and congenial setting, the Yeshiva aims to foster a lifelong bond between Rebbe and Talmid while cultivating a sense of responsibility to one’s peers, community and self.
The Providence community is enriched daily by the vitality of the Yeshiva. Students voluntarily study with community members, tutor local youth and lead Pirchei groups in addition to hosting the exhilarating Motzaei Shabbos father-and-son learning program. These are just some of the ways in which students of the Yeshiva share their deep commitment to Torah, thus enhancing the spiritual atmosphere of the community.
The Yeshiva’s influence on the lives of its students is pronounced. Alumni bear the lofty imprint of a Ben Torah, applying integrity and zeal to their life's work. Having achieved significant intellectual growth, and with high moral character development, graduates are uniquely prepared to fill leadership roles in their communities and Jewish institutions. Many alumni have chosen to settle in Providence, thereby strengthening the bond between community and Yeshiva.
In the decades since its inception, the Yeshiva Gedolah of Providence has established itself as a beacon of Torah learning and personal growth, as the Yeshiva and its leadership look toward an even brighter future.
